It has to be the most loved meal of the week because it means relaxation, loads of coffee and chitter-chatter.

Unfortunately, with so much goings on in the world of a Cleveland Socialite, sometimes its hard to find time to stop and poach an egg. Hence, our scheduled Facebook events in the Cleveland Brunch Club, because, if it ain’t on the calendar, it ain’t happening!

@ Sunnyside Up Cafe, Little Italy, Cleveland

Our grande tour de brunch began this past Sunday in Little Italy’s newest establishment, Sunnyside Up Cafe on Murray Hill Rd. The teeny restaurant has been open for just over a month and is exclusively a breakfast / lunch joint. The options are limited but feature yummy ingredients like eggs, brie cheese, avocado and red peppers. And endless cups of locally roasted coffee are $1.50 – try finding that anywhere else in town!

Ali had the artisan egg sandwich and Nidhi the egg in a pepper. The portions were a little on the small side, even with the surprise sampling of fresh fruit, but substitutions were easily made with no upcharge. Nidhi had a slight problem with her food being placed on decorative paper as her knife shred the paper as well as the veggies.

We sat outside because of the 80 degree weather and because sitting inside looked a little cramped. The attached gallery / shop makes for fun browsing, especially if you’re faced with a crowd.

Overall, a charming place with lots of potential! We wish the Sunnyside the best of luck!

@ The Inn on Coventry, Cleveland Heights

While not officially on our tour de brunch yet, we have to give mention to the best brunch spot within walking distance of our CleHts abodes. The Inn reminds me so much of my beloved college hang in Pittsburgh – but the cozy atmosphere can be frustrating to those who are ‘starving’ before arrival or have brought with them a large entourage.

Ali absolutely adores the crab cake benedict and the multitude of pancake options is staggering. And of course, what Sunday Brunch is complete without bottomless mugs of ol’ fashion diner joe?!

Two big thumbs up for the Inn!

@ Gus’s Family Restaurant, 4377 State Road, Cleveland

Thanks to Nidhi’s super sleuth blog finding skills, we are now tuned into Bite Buff’s reviews of the best food havens in Cleveland. It’s written by a self-professed non-cooker, which Ali loves, as she is one herself. Bite Buff recently ditched her favorite breakfast spot for Gus’s and we’re excited to venture beyond the East Side for a Sunday affair! Plus, it’s close to the Metropark’s Zoo which is hosting this Earth Day’s EarthFest.
